Edwin "Ed" Emmett Rolson

Edwin “Ed” Emmett Rolson, 78, Superior, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2013 at St. Luke’s Hospital Hospice Unit in Duluth following a courageous battle with cancer and is now with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Ed was born in Superior on July 10, 1935 to Torger and Tyne (Manninen) Rolson.

He married Ruth Droege on December 29, 1953 and would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this December.

He served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1956 serving in the infantry in the Korean War.

In 1958 he moved to Milwaukee, WI and worked there for fourteen years before moving back to Superior in 1972 where he worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad until his retirement many years later.

Ed was a longtime member of Twin Ports Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife Ruth, Ed is survived by two sons, Ted (Chae) Rolson, Plymouth, MN, Jeff (Tammy) Rolson, Superior; two daughters, Sue (Ken Becker) Ciorcarelli, O’Fallon, MO, Jewell (Paul Schmitz) Falkenberg, Delafield, WI; six grandchildren, Chris and Sarah Rolson, Rhiannon (Eric) Kyle, Ashley Rolson and Jeremy (Nicole) and Jenny Ciocarelli; five great-grandchildren, Teagan, Kaden, Nevaeh, Addie and Sienna; two sisters, Lorraine Keller and Alice Montague, both of San Tan Valley, AZ; two brothers, Dennis and Ralph (Diane) Rolson, both of Superior, WI and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Kevin and Steve Rolson; three sisters, Natalie Biller, Claudia Gustafson, and an infant sister, Karen, one brother Donald Rolson and his stepfather, Horace Brown.

Visitation will be from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Sunday, October 6, 2013 in Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home and visitation will continue at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 7, 2013 until the 12 Noon Funeral Service at Twin Ports Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Wagenschutz, officiating.

Burial will be Greenwood Cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435.

Pallbearers for the service will be Ted Rolson, Jeff Rolson, Chris Rolson, Rob Rolson, Jeremy Ciocarelli and Josh Wark.

Ed’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren will be recognized as honorary pallbearers.
