Eileen Braman Thomas, 94, passed to eternal life surrounded by her family on Monday, February 1, 2010 at the Franciscan Health Center in Duluth.
She was born on December 10, 1915 in Superior, WI to Richard and Nellie (McClellan) Chandler.
Eileen graduated from the former East High School and attended Bartley Business College.
She was employed as the office manager for the Human Resource Center, Mental Health Unit for many years until her retirement in 1981.
Eileen was a member of Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church and its Altar Society, the Mental Health Association, Douglas County Association for Hearing Impaired, Catholic Daughters of the Americas and the Douglas County Museum.
She loved bowling, ice skating, baking and spending time with her family. Eileen always had a smile on her face, laughter in her soul and pure kindness in her heart. She was a devoted Catholic daughter of the Lord and in return lived a joyful and fulfilled life.
Eileen is survived by three sons, William Braman, Superior, WI and Sun City, West AZ, Earl (Harriet) Braman and Timothy (Jean Conner) Braman, both of Superior, WI; two daughters, Marilyn (Allen) Keeler, Lake Nebagamon, WI and Joanie (Michael), Hoffman, Superior, WI; eleven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Nellie Chandler, her husbands, William Stuart Braman and Leonard Thomas and by all her brothers and sisters.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff at the Franciscan Health Center and St. Mary’s Hospice for the wonderful care Eileen was offered during her stay.
Visitation will begin at 12:30 PM on Friday, February 5, 2010 at Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church and continue until 1:30 PM Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. Andrew Ricci as celebrant.
Burial will be in the St. Francis Cemetery.
Pallbearers for the service will be Eileen’s grandchildren.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made in Eileen’s name to Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church.
Eileen’s family would like to give thanks to the Lord for granting them the special time they were given to pray, reflect and say their private goodbyes the night Eileen peacefully passed.
The Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Avenue, Superior is assisting the family with arrangements.
