Elaine F. Little

Elaine F. Little, 90, longtime Superior resident, died Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at the Lighthouse of Superior, surrounded by family. Elaine was born on November 2, 1925 in Superior, WI to Joseph and Mary (Zeliska) Doucette. While in grade school family moved to a farm near Cadott, WI. After graduating from Cadott High School, family returned to Superior, WI. She worked as a bookkeeper for Valley Brook (Twin Ports) Creamery for several years.

Elaine married Donald O. Little on August 18, 1947 and they celebrated sixty-six years of marriage before his passing in December 2013.

Elaine and Donald started a family in 1948. Elaine was a homemaker and raised four children. She always had a special love for small children. Elaine enjoyed cooking and baking, and especially family get-togethers during the holidays.

Elaine and Don spent many happy summers at the cabin in Solon Springs. Elaine enjoyed gardening and anything outdoors, especially proud of the appearance of the yard. They loved the water and their “dock” lunches. The cabin was rebuilt in 2005 and became their year round residence until moving into the Lighthouse of Superior in December 2013.

Elaine lived at the Lighthouse of Superior until her passing. She developed numerous close friendships during this time with both fellow residents and also the dedicated caregivers. She craved exercise and was known as the “walker” for her numerous trips around the halls, counting the loops she walked on her fingers. She was willing to help others and always had a smile on her face.

Elaine is survived by one son, Donald W. Little, Superior, WI; three daughters, Mary Jo (Jim) Wiseman-Huonder, White Bear Lake, MN, Kathleen Pomeroy, Horseshoe Bay, TX and Nancy (Tim) Senn, Superior, WI; five grandchildren, Brian Wiseman, Glencoe, MN, Laara Pommerening, Hartland, WI, Matthew Pomeroy, Summit, WI, Rachel Senn and Melissa Senn, both of Superior, WI; five great-grandchildren, Rebecca Wiseman, Talis and Jasmine Pomeroy, Addison and Holden Pommerening; one sister Audrey “Boots” Comeaux, Breaux Bridge, LA; three sisters-in-law Mae Doucette, Superior, WI, Ruth Pallis, Torrance, CA and Cathy Smith, Sacramento, CA and many nieces and nephews.

Elaine is preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald, granddaughter LeaAnn Wiseman and two brothers William “Bill” and Joseph “Bud” Doucette.

Visitation will begin at 1:00 PM on Thursday, November 19, 2015 19, 2015 in the Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Avenue, Superior and continue until the 2:00 PM memorial service. Meal will be served at 3:00 PM at The Salvation Army, 916 Hughitt Avenue, Superior.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Superior at a later date.
