Elizabeth "Betty" Ann (Fleissner) Gronski

Elizabeth “Betty” Ann (Fleissner) Gronski, 76, longtime Superior resident, died peacefully on Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospice in Duluth, MN.  She was born on October 22, 1941 in Superior, WI to Harold and Elaine (Cullen) Fleissner.

She graduated from Central High School in 1959 and went on to the University of Wisconsin-Superior.Betty spent many years giving her time as a foster parent. She brought so much joy and a safe and secure beginning of life for many young children through Douglas County and Lutheran Social Services. This was an important role for her and she had kept in contact with so many of those children whose lives were touched by her.

Betty married Ronald “Ron” Gronski on April 10, 1965 and they celebrated fifty-two years of marriage before his passing in January.

Betty was a majority member of Bethel 1, International Order of Job's Daughters, 56 year member and several time Past Matron of Superior Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, Past Matron of Euclid Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, Past High Priestess of the former Superior Shrine, White Shrine of Jerusalem, member of Lotus Temple, Daughters of the Nile, member of former Royal Neighbors of America.  In 2013, she was Grand Adah of the Grand Chapter, Eastern Star of Wisconsin.

Betty is survived by two sons, Daniel J. Gronski, Superior, WI and Jeffrey P. Gronski, Colorado Springs, CO; one daughter, Patricia L. Coughlin, Lake Nebagamon, WI; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one sister, Carolyn Johnson and one brother, John (Elaine) Sleeman. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Ron.

Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Monday, August 6, 2018 in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home with an Eastern Star Service at 7:00 PM.  Visitation will resume at the funeral home at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 and continue until the 11:00 AM funeral service with Pastor Darrell Kyle of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake Nebagamon, WI officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Superior.
