Elizabeth “Betty” Stuart, 68, Superior, went to be with the Lord after a courageous three year battle with cancer on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at St. Luke’s Hospital Hospice in Duluth, MN with her family by her side.
Betty was born on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1948 to Lester and Agnes (Sleva) Hansen.
She married Richard Stuart on April 28, 1972 and was twenty-six days short of forty-four years married.
She was a member of the Moose Lodge WOTM Chapter 795 in Superior.
Betty was known for her crafting ability and ceramic painting and was wonderful at making floral arrangements of any kind. She was an excellent cook and her carmels she made were out of this world. Betty loved spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. She had countless sleepovers with her grandchildren and she kept them busy with many crafts and games that they all loved. She also enjoyed her time at the cabin and riding on the side by side with family.
Betty is survived by her husband Richard “Rick” of forty-three years; two daughters, Kristine (Pete) Hanson and Barb (Paul Hanninen) Stuart, both of Superior, WI; one son, William “Bill” (Dena) Stuart, Duluth, MN; seven grandchildren, Cassie, Grant, Alyssa, Ericka, Kaisa, Tyler and Chloe; three sisters, JoAnn (Duane) Carlson, Mary Hansen and Margaret “Peggy” (Dick) Cowan, all of Superior, WI; mother-in-law, Elaine Stuart; sister-in-law, Sally (Ron) Neubauer and brothers-in-law, Jim (Diane) Stuart and William “Bill” (Kathy) Stuart, all of Superior, WI and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents and father-in-law, Joseph Stuart.
Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Bayside Baptist, 3915 N. 16th Street, Superior and continue until the 12:00 PM memorial service.
Burial will be at a later date in St. Francis Cemetery, Superior.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Goueli and Dr. Perlov and their staff at St. Luke’s Oncology Department and the hospice nurses on 2 West for the special care that was given to Betty.
