Elizabeth Lynnette (Lindgren) Hanson was born to John and Ruth Larson on December 18, 1934, in Port Wing Wisconsin and passed away peacefully on January 12, 2022, at age 87 after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. One of six children in the family, she graduated from South Shore High School in Port Wing. She lived in Maple Wisconsin with her late husband Duane and their children, managing a farm while also working many years at Middle River Hospital as a nurse's aide. After Duane's death, she moved to Poplar Wisconsin, continuing to work at the hospital and subsequently married her late husband, Gerald Hanson. They pursued a life filled with travel and a yard filled with beautiful flower gardens that they tended together.
Elizabeth, known as Bette, also was known widely for her cake decorating talents, from multi-tiered extravagant wedding cakes to the monthly birthday cake for a seniors community center. She was very devoted to her faith and her church, Peace Lutheran in Poplar. For many years, she managed the areas churches' Food Shelf out of Peace Lutheran, serving the area's needy residents. Bette was an avid seamstress and made many blankets for blanket drives conducted by the church. She also had a beautiful singing voice and was an alto in the church choir over the years. Bette was a very caring woman and a good friend to many people and her volunteerism was a large part of her rich life. She was a 4-H Club leader for many years, thus touching many young lives. Many of her children's friends considered her to be a second mother. Her work ethic was an inspiration and was instilled by example in her children. She was a very soft-spoken, kind person and, very determined in everything that she pursued.
Bette is survived by a sister, Carol, her children, Lee (wife Nancy), Yvonne (husband John), Jack (wife Toni), Darin (wife Carol), and Sheila. She is also survived by grandchildren, Aaron, Alyssa, Noah, Jonah, Sarah, Heide, Lucas and Hannah, and great-grandchildren, Elijah, Amelia, Vance, Monroe, Adeline, and Ashlyn. She also leaves behind her beloved pet Pomeranian, Cubby.
Visitation will be held from 4-6:00 PM, Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at Peace Lutheran Church, 9523 US-2, Poplar, WI.
Visitation will resume at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at Peace Lutheran Church, and will continue until the 11:00 AM Funeral Service with Pastor Donna Rutten officiating. Following the service a Nurses Nightingale Tribute will be offered by Bette's friends in nursing.
Masks will be required for both the visitation and the service.
Burial will be in Pine Ridge Cemetery.
