Elizabeth Jean (Werner) Peterson, age 98 of Superior, Wisconsin passed away on February 20, 2022, at Benedictine Health Center in Duluth, Minnesota. She spent her last years at home, the place she loved and spent many happy years. Jean was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 1923 to Nicholas Elmer Werner and Lorraine (Rene) Ann (Becker) Werner and lived most of her younger years in Watkins, Minnesota. After working briefly for the War Assets department in Minneapolis, she met and married Paul Allen Peterson in 1947. Jean and Paul moved to Superior, Wisconsin where they raised five children. Jean was a homemaker and found time to volunteer at Cathedral Grade School lunchroom every Monday for 24 years. She volunteered at the lunchroom at Cathedral grade school for 24 years, participated in being a prayer partner at Cathedral Grade School and visited the residents at St. Francis nursing home. When she was 80 years old, she once said that she was going to go out to Saint Francis and to “play bingo with the old people”. Her cooking and baking skills and her ever present smile welcomed many of her children’s friends for meals or sweets.
Preceding her in death was her loving husband Paul Allen Peterson, her parents, Nicholas Elmer Werner and Lorraine Ann Werner, her bother Richard Werner and his wife Eunice and brother John Werner and his wife Lorraine. Her children, Thomas (Alice) Peterson, John (Katherine) Peterson, Paula Peterson, Mary (David) Tollers, and Mark Peterson, nine grandchildren, and fourteen great grandchildren survive her.
The family would like to thank the staff at Benedictine Health Center for their compassion and loving care of our mother.
