Ellen Mary Anderson

Ellen Mary Anderson passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth at age 102. She lived in Superior for 99 of her nearly 103 years. She was a very good student, so she became a teacher. She taught in one room school houses in Douglas County, WI. She then became a wife, a mother, a PTA President, a Town Clerk, a member of many cultural and civic groups; and she was a lifelong Lutheran Church member and Pilgrim Lutheran Church’s quilters group. She was a good cook and her family loved her holiday meals! In 2016, at age 101 she became the matron to five generations of all female family members following her previous mixed gender family generations. She enjoyed seeing all of her kinfolk and her great great-grandbabies pictures.

Ellen is survived by her four children, Harold (Bev), Arnelle (Larry), Anne (Richard) and William (Kate); eight grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Arne, parents, three brothers and a sister.

Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at Pilgrim Lutheran Church and continue until the 1:00 PM funeral service with Pastor Will Mowchan officiating.  Burial will be Greenwood Cemetery, Superior.
