Ellen Uchytil

Ellen Uchytil, 91, lifelong Superior resident, died on Thursday, April 30, 2009 in St. Mary's Medical Center, Duluth.
She was born on January 18, 1918 in Superior to Stephen and Ellen (Brotherton) Gilhuly.
She graduated from high school in Superior and from the former Superior Normal School with a degree in teaching. She was employed at University of Wisconsin-Superior for thirty-nine years, retiring as the Chancellor's secretary.
Ellen was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court 1190 and she loved knitting and dogs.
She is survived by five stepsons, William (Terri) Uchytil, Villa Park, CA, Vince Uchytil, Marysville, WA, Gerard (Shelly) Uchytil, Hudson, WI, Steven (Patty) Uchytil, Katy, TX, Daniel Uchytil, Seattle, WA; two stepdaughters, Peggy (Al) Abrahamson, Yuma, AZ, Sister Betty Uchytil, Milwaukee, WI and one nephew, Patrick (Sharon) Gilhuly, Philadelphia, PA.
She was preceded in death by her husband Frank in 1971; two stepsons, Tom Uchytil in 1994, Mark Uchytil in 1995 and a brother, Leo Gilhuly.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM with a CDA Rosary at 10:30 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12 noon with Rev. Fr. Ronald Olson of Holy Assumption Church as celebrant.
Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers for the service will be the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court 1190.
