Elmer A. Lintula

Elmer Lintula, 89, lifelong Superior area resident, passed away on Monday, May 1, 2017, peacefully surrounded by his family at Middle River Health and Rehabilitation Center in South Range, WI. He was born on November 20, 1927 in Superior, WI to John and Olga (Rautio) Lintula.

He graduated from the former Central High School and went on to serve his country in the United States Army. He married Kathleen A. “Kathy” Swanson on May 19, 1951 and celebrated sixty-five years of marriage.Elmer retired from Cargill Grain Elevator as a grain superintendent after 42 years of service.

He was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church and The Gideons International.  He was a man who actively lived out his faith in Jesus Christ. . He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and he really loved deer hunting with his children and grandchildren.

Elmer is survived by his wife, Kathy; one daughter, Debra (Alan) Avery, Minneapolis, MN; two sons, Mark (Glenda) Lintula, Minneapolis, MN, Jon (Vickie) Lintula, South Range, WI; eleven grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Elsie Kiiski and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his son, Keith Lintula in 1952, sisters Marion Orville and Martha Ellis and brothers William and George Lintula.

Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 PM on Friday, May 5, 2017 at Lakeside Baptist Church in the Town of Lakeside, WI.  Visitation will resume on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 10:00 AM and will continue until the 11:00 AM funeral service at Lakeside Baptist Church with Pastor Chuck Ells officiating. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery in the Town of Lakeside, WI.
