Elna Linnea Lund

Elna Linnea Lund, 104, lifelong area resident, died Monday, February 13, 2017 peacefully in Stardusk House Assisted Living, Superior, WI. She was born June 25, 1912 in Bayfield, WI the daughter of Fred Ernest and Anna Mathilda (Erickson) Lund.

Elna worked as a secretary at Crawford and Cirilli and the University of Wisconsin Superior for many years. She was a longtime active member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church and volunteered at Northwest Community Action. She excelled in her craftwork skills of knitting, crocheting and sewing. She especially enjoyed giving her beautiful craftwork away to family and friends.

Elna will be remembered for her independent spirit. She mowed her own lawn and shoveled her own snow well into her eighties.

She is survived by her close friends, Kathy Mertzig, Sandra Brietzman, Merna Hammerbeck and Eva Wiitala, all of the Superior area.

She is preceded in death by her parents. Her mother passed away when Elna was just 1 year old, her father passed in 1962.

Elna and her dear friends would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at the Stardusk House for the wonderful care they provide.

A graveside service will be held in Greenwood Cemetery in Bayfield, WI at a later date.
