Elsie Hansen, 80, resident of Superior, passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth, MN. She was born in Highland Township, WI on April 7, 1944.
She was a graduate of Northwestern High School in Maple, WI. Elsie spent most if her adult life working as a retail clerk. She frequently shared stories of her experiences at Woolworths and Yonkers here in Superior.
Elsie was united in marriage to John Hansen on February 10, 1990, at Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church in Superior. They recently celebrated thirty-five wonderful years together before her passing.
She was a member of both Cathedral and Holy Assumption Catholic Church.
In her free time, Elsie loved to cook, cross stitch, quilt, and garden. But above all, she loved being with her family, especially spending time with her grandchildren. She will be forever missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her beloved husband John; sons Brian (Michelle) Miesbauer, Jeffrey (Tina) Miesbauer, and Darrin (Mary) Miesbauer; grandchildren Misty (JT) Diehl, Hollie Miesbauer (Mark), Kylie (Michael) O'Neal, Ryan (Kelsey) Miesbauer and Justin (Morgan) Miesbauer; step-grandson Nick Ploffenburger; great-grandchildren Liam, Jack, Kameron, Westin, Kaden, and Kinsley; sisters Ann Mau, Prairie Farm, WI and Jean (Ray) Saari, Superior; brother William Rampier, Brule, WI; and several nieces and nephews.
Elsie is preceded in death by her parents and sister Rose DeGraef.
A Visitation will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 11, 2025, at Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church, 1111 Belknap Ave in Superior, and will continue until the Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Fr. Andrew Ricci officiating.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Elsie's name to either Cathedral School, 1419 Baxter Avenue, Superior or to the Salvation Army, 916 Hughitt Avenue in Superior.
