Emma Kallas, 106, longtime Superior resident, died Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at St. Francis in the Park, Superior.
She was born in Cloquet, MN on March 20, 1903 the daughter of Joseph and Elzire (Line) Drolet.
She attended the former Cathedral High School and Beauty school in Superior.
She owned and operated the Primrose Beauty Shop on Tower Avenue for many years.
Emma was united in marriage to Paul Kallas in June of 1948.
She was a member of Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church and a member of the former St. Louis Catholic Church.
Emma enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. In 1995, she moved to St. Francis in the Park. She became very active by helping out at the gift shop every Monday and whenever she was needed.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter-in-law, Helen Renoos; one granddaughter and one grandson; nieces, Lorraine Spriggle and Beverly Villeneuve and several great nieces and nephews; special friends, Pat Martineau and family and Pauline Kukull.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Kallas, parents, one son Jim Renoos, sister Elise Brow, two brothers Joseph and Bill Drolet and nephew Donald Brow.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, Monday, December 21, 2009 in Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church and continue until the 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. Andrew Ricci as celebrant.
Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery.
The Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Avenue, Superior is assisting the family with arrangements.
