Emma I. Pettit

Emma I. Pettit, 90, lifelong Superior resident, died Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Golden Living Center in Superior. She was born on February 7, 1926 in Superior, WI to Albert and Ruth Wallin.

Emma worked for Chun King and was a farmer in addition to raising her six boys.

She married Emery Pettit in July 7, 1943 and they celebrated twenty-nine years of marriage before his passing in 1972.

Emma was always the giving kind. Whether it was her time, a meal, a place to stay or even a ride to the store. She spent many years with her best friend Alice, cooking, canning, farming and shopping for bargains. She was very proud of her family and was a very faithful wife, mother and grandmother.

Emma is survived by four sons, Jack (Sandie), Emery (Marilyn), Kenneth (Patti Remington) and Randy Pettit; five grandsons, James Pettit, Emery Pettit, Jr., Kenneth Rivord, David Pettit and Jeremy (Andrea) Pettit; two step-granddaughters, Jenny Christianson and Shayna Uttech; four great-grandchildren, Ryan, Brandon, Brianna and Stacy Pettit; five brothers, Curtis, Melvin, Marvin, Kenneth and Merle and two sisters, Marie and Jean.

She is preceded in death by her husband Emery, sons Terry and Steven Pettit, grandsons Jason and Steven Pettit, great-granddaughter Emily Pettit, brothers Richard and Gary Wallin and sister Florence “Tootie” Nelson and longtime family friends Charlie and Alice Allen.

Visitation will begin at 10:30 AM on Thursday, April 21, 2016 in Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 E. 5th Street, Superior and continue until the 12:00 PM memorial service with Pastor Sarah Kerkes of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church officiating.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Superior.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jack, Emery, Kenneth and Randy Pettit, Dennis Pattee and Terry Wallin.
