Esther A. Hart

Esther A Hart passed away May 13, 2010, one day after her 96th birthday at Golden Living Center, Superior.

She was born in Duluth and moved to the Allouez area of Superior at an early age. She lived in Allouez until retirement when she and Gene moved moved to Crystal Lake in Wascott. She graduated from the former East High School in Superior and attended Superior State Teachers College.

Before becoming a mother and a homemaker she was employed by the CO-OP Wholesale and the Great Northern Railway. After her children were grown she returned to work at the Glass Block Department Store in Duluth and later as a secretary in the financial aide office at UWS.

Esther married Eugene F. Hart in St Paul on May 26, 1950. They celebrated 47 years of marriage before he passed away in 1997.
When her children were in school Esther was very active in the PTA and served as president of the PTA Area Council.
She was active in the Minong Senior Citizen Center where she especially enjoyed played cards.

Esther is survived by one daughter, Fran Hart-Sorensen, Blaine, MN; one son, Ron (Sue) Christensen, Superior, and one granddaughter, Anna (Tim) Warring, Salt Lake City, UT.

In addition to her husband, Eugene, Esther was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Terry Sorensen and her parents.

Esther’s family would like to thank the staff at Golden Living Center for the care given during her stay.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM and will continue until the 12 Noon Funeral Service on Monday, May 17, 2010 in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home. Pastor Patrick Ziems of Zion Lutheran Church will officiate.
Burial will be in Nemadji Cemetery.
