Esther C. Nolan

Just short of her 89th birthday, Esther Christine (Amys) Nolan left this earth on March 1, 2024. Born on March 21, 1935, to Peter Sr. and Esther (Peterson) Amys, she was among a family of nine daughters and two sons.

She was adored by her sisters and brothers, and was preceded in death by both parents, her husband, Richard Nolan, sister's, Jacqueline (Robert Rukavina), Jeraldine (James Aleckson), and Nancy (Robert Schofield), and one great-granddaughter, Isabella Nolan.

Esther graduated from East High School in 1953, married Dick in 1956, and began a life with him and their three sons, Garrett (Ginna), Michael, and Dennis, raising her boys and traveling with the Air Force to Waco, Texas; Elmendorf AFB, Alaska; Duluth, Minnesota; and Beale AFB in California. Upon the family’s return in 1973 to Superior, Wisconsin, Esther served as secretary to several pastors and the congregation at Pilgrim Lutheran Church.

Her family and faith were an integral focus in how she lived her life. Esther was known as a kind, patient, and gentle soul. She offered warmth and compassion to all she met and was deeply loved.

She is also survived by sisters Joyce (William Thomas), Patricia (Wayne Asbury), Dianna (Arthur Marquart), Carolyn, and Andrea (Donald Midbon), as well as two brothers Peter Jr (Barbara) and Jeffrey (Lori). She was blessed with 12 grandchildren and 15 great- grandchildren, all of whom will miss her greatly.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, April 5, 2024, at Zion Lutheran Church, 2022 E. 2nd Street in Superior, and will continue until the Memorial Service at 11:00 AM with Pastor Sarah Gunderson officiating.

Burial will be in Parkview Cemetery in Hawthorne, WI at a later date.
