Eugene T. Carlson

Eugene T. Carlson, 87, Superior resident, passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at the Superior Rehabilitation Center in Superior. He was born on March 13th, 1936, in Superior, the son of Oscar and Verna (Anderson) Carlson.

He was a graduate of East High School in Superior and soon after joined the Army National Guard. Eugene then went on to work for Lerch Brothers Taconite for 14 years and Swanstrom Tools as a machinist for 27 years.

Eugene married Francisca (Helen) Batucan on January 25, 2002; they spent 21 wonderful years together before his passing.

Eugene was an avid golfer, traveler, and you could often find him with his nose buried in the local newspapers. He was a generous man who was always helping others in need. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Helen; sons Eugene Carlson Jr. and Lee Carlson; stepdaughter Suzette (Dennis) Taoy; brother James Douglas (Aina) Carlson; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; nephews Steven and Jeffrey Carlson; great-nieces Ella and Reese; and many other family members and friends.

Eugene is preceded in death by his parents Oscar and Verna Carlson.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to St. Luke’s Hospice and the Superior Rehabilitation Center for their wonderful care of Eugene.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 14, 2023, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 4315 E 3rd Street in Superior, and will continue until the Memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 with Father Anthony Yannam as celebrant.

Burial will be in Summit Cemetery.
