Faye I. Martell, 91, passed away surrounded by her family and friends on Mother’s Day May 8th, 2022, at her home in Iron River, WI.
In loving memory of our mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Aunt.
Faye was born Nov 27, 1930, in Lakeview, Oregon to Howard Benjamin Boorman and Grace Helen DiChristina Boorman.
She moved with her family to Oakland, CA where her mother met and married Louis Marcel Cerez (Frenchy). At Oakland, she met and then married Leslie Martell on Nov 27, 1949. They were married 54 years until Leslie's passing on May 21, 2004. She loved her family, friends, and community.
She enjoyed bowling where she was league secretary for many years, playing cards with family and friends, and road trips to Reno with those same people, bingo and TOPS. She also enjoyed collecting teacups. She was a member of Woodsmen of the World. Upon retirement they moved to Delta, Wisconsin and lived there for many years before moving to Iron River. She was a member of the Delta Homemakers club. She was a proud member of the VFW post 10197 Women's Auxiliary. She served as president for several years. She also belonged to the Women's Auxiliary of the Rebekah Lodge #192 of Iron River; she was Grand Noble for a couple of years.
She is survived by her son William (Sue) of San Lorenzo, California. Daughters Bettyann of Lyons, Colorado, and Marlene (Dennis) of Maple, Wisconsin.
Grandsons: William (Maria), Ronnie (Becky), Willy, and Johnny. Granddaughters: Leslie (Jason), Stacy, and Michelle. Great grandkids: Stephanie (Brett), Raymond, Haydn, Ary, Billy, Ashley, and Austin. Many nieces and nephews. Special friends in her life include Dan, Florence, Barb, Jennie, Trudy, Carol, Linda, Melinda and Bill.
She was preceded in death by her husband Leslie and baby son Leslie Jr, her parents Howard, Grace and Frenchy and her sister Barbara.
Special thanks to the home health care staff and Hospice staff of Ashland.
In lieu of flowers Mom request memorials be made the Women’s Auxiliary VFW 10197 in Iron River, WI.
Per Faye’s wishes, a Memorial Service will be held in July 2022, service date and times will be announced.
