Florence J. (Bratek) Jensen

Florence J. (Bratek) Jensen, 85, lifelong Superior resident, died Monday, February 21, 2011 at St. Francis in the Park in Superior.

She was born on April 13, 1925 in Superior, WI to Andrew and Victoria (Zegarowicz) Sislo.

She worked as a chef for the Black Steer Restaurant and Colonial Nursing Home for many years.

Florence was a longtime member of Holy Assumption Catholic Church.
She loved fishing, cooking and gardening. She was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and Notre Dame Football teams.

Florence is survived by two daughters, Patricia (Hank) Grandys, Superior, WI and Mary (Dennis) McNally, Edgewood, WA; two sons, Michael (Catherine) Bratek, Apple Valley, MN and John (Donna) Bratek, Fort Madison, IA; eight grandchildren, Staci (Joseph) Rosman, Superior, WI, Rae Anne (Israel) McNally-Bolechala, Olympia, WA, John Bratek, Detroit, MI, Daniel McNally, Puyallup, WA, Kevin Bratek, Iowa City, IA, Stephanie (Bryan) Bratek-McGrath, Farmington, MN, Rachel Bratek, Apple Valley, MN and Andrew Bratek, Fort Madison, IA; four great-grandchildren, Seth Bratek, Kyla Rosman, Brookelynn and Jacob Bolechala; two sisters, Leone Lach, Duluth, MN and Agnes Sislo, Woodruff, WI; two stepdaughters, JoAnn Blatt and Janice (Bob) Herrick, both of Superior, WI; stepson, William (Marilyn) Jensen, Superior, WI and several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Henry in 1997, two sisters, Margaret Sislo and Grace Bratek and eight brothers, Alex, William, Robert, John, Frank, Edward, Raymond and George Sislo.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM on Thursday, February 24, 2011 in the Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Avenue, Superior with a scripture service to be held at 6:30 PM with Rev Fr. Andrew Ricci officiating.

Visitation will resume at 10:00 AM on Friday, February 25, 2011 at Holy Assumption Catholic Church and continue until the 10:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. Ronald Olson as celebrant.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Superior.
