Florence (Munnings) Voynich, 98, near lifelong Superior resident, died Sunday, May 6, 2018 at New Perspectives Senior Living in Superior. She was born the daughter of Jeannette and George Munnings.
She attended Superior schools, graduating from Superior State, now UWS, and earned a master’s degree in Library Science from UW Madison.
Her teaching career included Mineral Point, St. Croix Falls and Superior, retiring from Superior Senior High in 1984. After retirement she volunteered at Four Corners and Memorial Hospital.
In addition to her teaching she was employed by the US Army during the Allied Occupation in Vienna Austria, and later, with the US Navy in Washington D.C.
She was a member of United Presbyterian Church, Delta Kappa Gamma Society, and Retired Educators.
She is survived by her grandson, Nathan (Lana) Voynich; three great-grandchildren, Blake, Avery and Delia; four sisters, Bernice Dillon, Ruth Beckwell, Frances Munnings, Susan (Joel) Haley; brother, John Munnings; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Richard; her parents; sister, Marbeth Hartman; three brothers, George Jr., Robert and William.
A Celebration of Florence’s Life and a Time of Remembrance for friends and family, will be held Sunday, May 20, 2018 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM in the Pattison Park Pavilion.
In lieu of flowers, Florence would prefer that donations be made to an educational charity of your choice.
