Frances E. Carlson, 94, Poplar, died Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at Middle River Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born on December 8, 1917 in Wakefield, Nebraska to Daniel and Ruth (Johnson) Borg and has been a Poplar area resident since 1930.
She married Albin Carlson on February 19, 1944 in Poplar and celebrated and celebrated thirty-eight years of marriage before he passed away on March 3, 1982.
Fran and her husband Albin owned and operated the family dairy farm for many years.
She was a member of Mission Covenant Church of which she was very active. She loved gardening, sewing and quilting. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and watching the birds feed at the feeders outside her windows.
Fran is survived by one son, Dale Carlson, Poplar; one grandson, Scott (April) Carlson, Poplar, one granddaughter, Sheryl Carlson , Poplar; three great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Brett and Stetson; one sister, Bernice Weaver, Littleton, CO and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband Albin, Fran is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Robert Borg; two sisters, Eunice Pearson, Jeanette Levine; one adopted brother, Larry Borg and an adopted sister, Doris Grandstrum.
Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM until the 3:00 PM Funeral Service on Monday, October 15, 2012 in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home with Pastor Darrell Nelson of Mission Covenant Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Poplar Cemetery.
