Frances A. Searle, 84, lifelong Superior resident, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2015 at Villa-Marina Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was born on December 3, 1930 in Superior to Charles and Anna (Wasalowski) Miskonis.
She attended the former East High School.
On April 16, 1955, Frances married Roger Searle in Superior and celebrated 60 years of marriage.
She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church; was past president of the VFW Post #1091 Auxiliary, past president of the MOCA Pup Tent #2 of the VFW Cooties, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary #435, a member of the Superior Retired Firefighters Association and also a member of the Douglas County Memorial Day Committee. She was a longtime volunteer at the Bong Center.
Fran was a seamstress and loved to sew, gardening and traveling.
She was employed as a nurse for over 50 years at St. Francis Hospital, the hospital in Spooner, St. Mary’s Hospital, St. Joseph’s Hospital and Superior Memorial Hospital before going into private in-home care.
In addition to her husband Roger, Fran is survived by one son, Roger (Cheryl) Searle, Superior; four grandchildren, Roger Searle, Roseanna Searle, Joseph Searle and Jennifer (Tim) Monschman; six great-grandchildren, Claudia, Sylvia, Leland, Maci, Charlene and Olivia who is to be born in a month; a special nephew Dave Starkey; several other nieces and nephews and a special cousin, Peggy Wild, Tucson, AZ.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Lu-Ann; her parents and a brother, Alex Miskonis.
Visitation will begin at 12 Noon and will continue until the 1:00 PM Funeral Service on Friday, September 25, 2015 in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home with Rev. Fr. Adam Laski, officiating.
