Freda May Moe

May 15, 1920 — June 12, 2011

Freda May (Beede) Moe, 91, Superior, died Sunday, June 12, 2011, peacefully in her home surrounded by her family.

She was born on May 15, 1920 in Park Rapids, MN to Lester and Rose (Koechler) Beede.

She graduated from the former East High School and attended the former Superior Vocational School.


Freda married her husband Joseph Moe on May 8, 1944 and celebrated fifty years of marriage before he passed away in 1994.

She attended Zion Lutheran Church and was a member of the former First Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and the St. Francis Travelers and she had been a Den Mother with Boy Scouts.
Freda was a volunteer Grandma at the Head Start Center #2 and she was a founding member of the Merry Mates Homemakers Club.

She had been employed as a secretary for Lidgerwood-Mundy; a teller at National Bank of Commerce and she had worked at the former Ben Franklin Dime Store in East End Superior.

Freda is survived by two sons, David (Linda) Moe, Superior, Peter (Jane) Moe, Superior; one daughter, Marilyn (Bob) Blomquist, Superior; eight grandchildren, James (Michelle) Sanders, Superior, Kristi (John) Conley, Superior, Kari Beckwell, Superior, Amy (Keith) Gertsema, Spring Lake Park, MN, Andrew Moe, Superior, Kasie (Jason) Smith, Superior, Emily Moe, St. Louis Park, MN, Brandon Moe, Superior; many great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband Joseph, Freda is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Charles and Clarence Beede.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM until the 12 Noon Funeral Service on Thursday, June 16, 2011 in Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Patrick Ziems, officiating.

Interment will be in Nemadji Cemetery.

Freda will be remembered as a very loving and giving woman who opened her heart and home to her family and friends.
