Frederick G. Ketola

July 18, 1942 — May 14, 2011

Frederick G. Ketola, 68, longtime Maple, Wisconsin area resident, died Saturday, May 14, 2011 in Solvay Hospice House in Duluth, MN.

He was born in Superior, WI on July 18, 1942 the son of Harry and Martha (Antilla) Ketola.

Frederick served his country in the United States Coast Guard retiring after thirty-four years of service.


He was also employed by the Duluth Fire Department for twenty-eight years as a fire equipment mechanic retiring in 2005.

Frederick was an avid Packer fan; loved NASCAR racing and four wheeling and was always willing to fix a vehicle for a friend.    He also enjoyed playing poker.

He is survived by one daughter, Cindy (Doug) Rosas, Duluth, MN; one son, Randall (Rebecca) Ketola, Richland Center, WI; five grandchildren, Amber, Erik, and Aron Rosas and Lyra and Hailey Ketola; two brothers, William (Myra) Ketola, Sheboygan Falls, WI and Floyd (Mary Ann) Ketola, Mesa, Arizona; two sisters, Ruth (Darwin) McConkie, Maple and Marie (Bill) DeBock, Kenosha, WI; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Ted and Phillip Ketola.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM, Thursday, May 19, 2011 in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 East 5th Street, Superior.   Visitation will continue at 10:00 AM, Friday, May 20, 2011 and continue until the 11:00 AM Funeral Service with Pastor Charles Ells of Lakeside Baptist Church, officiating.

Burial will be in the Finnish Apostolic Cemetery, Maple.

Pallbearers for the service will be Matthew Ketola, Michael Ketola, Mark Ketola, Randall Ketola, Erik Rosas and Aron Rosas.

Fred’s family would like to thank, family and friends for all their help during his illness.
