Gayle Ruth Janovick, 73, lifelong Superior area resident died unexpectedly on Saturday, October 1, 2011 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
She was born in Duluth, Minnesota on September 4, 1938 the daughter of Ruben T. and Gerda (Anderson) Fjone.
Gayle graduated from Denfield High School in 1956.
She served the area as an insurance agent for the past fifty years.
She married Bill Janovick on August 10, 1968 and they had recently celebrated forty-three years of marriage.
Gayle was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Superior where she previously had been involved with the youth education program as both a Sunday school and Vacation Bible school teacher. She was an avid sports fan and attended a great many Spartan football and hockey games. She also thoroughly enjoyed the time she spent with all of her bunko buddies on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Janovick; one son, Dr. Charles Janovick, Superior; two daughters, Sharrie (Scott) Janovick-Young, Superior and Shelley Janovick, Milwaukee, Wisconsin; seven grandchildren, Charles (Brittnie) Janovick, Jr., Seattle, Washington, Jessica (Derrick) Stromberg, Superior; Logan Bacon, Milwaukee, WI; Janna Bacon, Milwaukee, WI; Jacob Young, Superior; Nathan Young, Superior; Adam Young, Superior; one sister, Barbara (Robert) White, Kelsey, MN; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Ronald Fjone.
Visitation will begin at 10:30 AM on Friday, October 7, 2011 and continue until the 12:00 Noon, memorial service at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church with Pastor Sarah Kerkes officiating.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Gayle’s grandchildren will be recognized as honorary pallbearers.
