Gayle V. Johnson, 82, Brule area resident, died Thursday, December 29, 2016 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Hospice Unit, Duluth, Minnesota. She was born on May 20, 1934 in Aitkin, Minnesota the daughter of George and Esther (Riggs) Bunt.

Gayle graduated from High School and attended W.I.T.C. receiving an Accounting Degree. She married Ronald Johnson on August 9, 1952 in Carlton, MN and recently celebrated sixty four years of marriage. Gayle enjoyed oil painting; quilting, crocheting and providing family history.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald of Brule, WI; Julie (David) Hill. Rogers, MN; Patricia (Michael) Anecki, Superior, WI; two sons, Timothy (Cathleen) Johnson, Spooner, WI and Randy Johnson, Brule, WI; eight grandchildren, Morgan Schmidt, Katie Johnson, Michael Johnson, Aaron Hill, Brian Anecki, Karleen Johnson, Janeen Johnson and Mitchell Johnson; six great-grandchildren, Ali, Myla, Violet, Dayton, Chaise and Henso; two brothers, George (Liz) Bunt and Jerry (Hilde) Bunt; several nieces; and her two canine companions, Rosie and Abby.

Gayle was preceded in death by her son, Lawrence; her infant daughter; her parents; two brothers, James and Thomas Bunt.

Visitation will begin at 11:00 am, Friday, January 6, 2017 in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 East 5 th Street, Superior and continue until the 12:00 pm Memorial Service with Pastor Scott Stai from Hope Lutheran Church in Oulu, WI officiating.
