George Christopher Gamst, 67, resident of Superior, passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Duluth, MN, with his family by his side.
George was born on February 12, 1957, in St. Paul, MN, the son of Donald and Virginia (Lambert) Gamst.
He graduated from North St. Paul High School, in the class of 1975. After graduating, George joined the union and worked as a contractor doing sheet rock and carpenter work.
George was quite the character, often making his family and friends laugh with his quick wit and funny jokes. He also loved movies, especially old Sherlock Holmes movies and the Sound of Music. He enjoyed fishing or listening to his favorite tunes while enjoying few beers. Above all, George loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his children and grandbabies. One of his favorite things over the past few years was all the weekends he was able to spend with his grandson. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his children Jesse (Sarah), Tyler, and Kalsey (Jack Sundvick) Gamst; grandchildren Leon, Little Jack “Bubs”, Olivia, Emma, and Austin; siblings Donna Goff, Greg (Vicky) Gamst, Teri (Jerry) Hedican, Gil (Candice) Gamst, Rene (Steve Richardson) Gamst, Bernie (Deb) Gamst, Celeste (Charlie) Thiemi, Marge (Jim) Stanley, Roni (John) O’Doherty, and brother-in-law Greg Duren; girlfriend Dawn Goodell Mankoski and her daughter Holly Mankoski; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his brother John Gamst; sister Annie Duren; sister-in-law Diane Gamst; nephews John Jr. and Michael Gamst; great-niece Chloe Gamst; and his parents George Donald and Virgina (Lambert) Gamst.
