George A Gronski

September 9, 1941 — June 4, 2015

George A. Gronski, 73, Duluth, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at Bayshore Care Center in Duluth, MN. He was a lifelong Superior resident prior to moving to Duluth in 2007. He was born on September 9, 1941 in Superior to Peter and Regina (Kulas) Gronski.

George graduated from the former Central High School in 1956 and went to serve his country in the United States Air Force, stationed in Okinawa, Japan as a Morris Code operator and later served in the Army National Guard. He married Lynn Brazerol on September 18, 1976 in Duluth and celebrated 30 years of marriage before she passed away on April of 2007. George was employed as a yardmaster for the Great Northern and Burlington Northern Railroads for over 30 years, retiring in 1998. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.

George is survived by two daughters, JoAnna Gronski, Superior, Julie Gronski, Duluth; four grandsons, Michael, Caleb, Connor and Oliver; two sisters, Patricia Martineau, Superior, Cynthia Gronski, Superior; three brothers, Ronald (Betty) Gronski, Superior, John (Rose) Gronski, Superior, Timothy Gronski, Hixton, WI and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Lynn, George was preceded in death by his parents; a brother-in-law, Paul Martineau and a sister-in-law, Doreen Gronski.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM and will continue until the 11:00 AM Memorial Mass on Friday, June 12, 2015 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. James Tobolski, as celebrant.

George’s family would like to thank the Bayshore Care Center for the wonderful care they gave to George and his family.
