George D. Kane, 65, lifelong resident of the Midwest, passed away on Friday, January 19th, 2024, in the comfort of his home in Oliver, WI surrounded by his loving family. After a short battle with pancreatic cancer, George met with his maker to be reunited with his loved ones.
He was born the son of Edward and Ruth (Rous) Kane on June 26, 1958, in St. Paul, MN and grew up in White Bear Lake, MN. On this June date, the world would be blessed with a person whose personality was bigger than the fish he caught, humor that could make the stoic burst into unmeasurable laughter, and so much care to the point where nobody’s own could compare.
He attended St. Scholastica for business education and worked in sales at Sysco Foods for many years, creating so many everlasting connections in which he held with pride, close to his heart. He was a member of the Carlton Volunteer Fire and Ambulance service for more than ten years. His stories from these experiences were spread to friends and families, and the good times during his career stayed with him until the end.
George married Rebecca (Becky) Chase on July 10, 1976, in Duluth, MN. Becky would soon be referred to as “Wifey”, until the end of their 47 year reign as “The Kane’s”.
George loved to cook for his family and friends and was delighted by the various cooking gadgets that made food preparation much easier. His beloved robotic can opener and automatic potato peeler will be put to use by close family. If George wasn’t working out at Doc’s Gym (former North Star Gym), he could be found traveling, especially if it involved camping and fishing. Let’s not forget the beer camp at Bean’s! George had special favor in his heart for The Frontier Resort on the Ash River Trail, referring to it as "God's Country".
He is survived by his wife, Becky Kane; children: Jessica (Brian) Kohne, Superior, WI, Robert “Bob” (Gina) Kane, Sacramento, CA, and Joseph “Joe” (Jen) Kane, Apple Valley, MN; nine grandchildren, Bobby Kane, Alyssa Kane, Brooklyn Kane, Bailey Kane, Jillian Kane, Jenna Kane, Austin Kohne, Ethan Kohne, and Emily (Amish Guy) Kohne; and one great-grandchild, Benny Kane; brother Judd Kane, Duluth, MN; niece Nikki White; and nephews Steven Kane, Mark Kane, Dan Kane, Cory Kane; longtime family friends Dr. Chuck Janovick, Bean Johnson, and Nancy Saari.
He was preceded in death by his parents and nephew Michael Kane.
George Kane was a beloved brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend. His life stories will be shared for generations. He will never be forgotten.
A Celebration of Life for George will be held at Mr. D’s Bar & Grill on Saturday, February 17th from 4:00-9:00 PM.
