George R Larson

George R. Larson, 89, formerly of Lake Nebagamon, WI, and Superior, WI,  died Thursday,  May 11, 2017 at Golden Oaks in Hermantown, MN. He was born on February 14, 1928 in Hawthorne, WI  to  Ernest and Signe (Bjorklund) Larson.

George was a millwright for US Steel retiring in 1979 after thirty years of service. He married Elna Falk on April 5, 1952 and they recently celebrated sixty-five years of marriage. He was a member of the First Covenant Church where he served as deacon and trustee. George was a talented artist and sign painter. He worked for Nett Neon Sign Company in Superior, WI, Rands Sign Company, Cotton, MN, LakeHead sign Company, Superior, Rox  Bartman Sign Company, Poplar, WI.

George loved the outdoors and loved his plants and enjoyed traveling with his wife, Elna. George will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and greatest PaPa ever and was the King of our family.

George is survived by his wife, Elna; daughter, Susan (Michael) Olson, Greenwood, WI and son, Steven (Linda) Larson, Britt, MN; five grandchildren, Justin Hoivik, Jeremy Hoivik, Joshua (Breanna) Hoivik, Andrew (Holly) Larson and Matthew (Lisa) Larson; seven great-grandchildren, Jordan and Tyler Hoivik, Caleb, Brynn and Avery Hoivik, Kaitlynn and Connor Larson, sister-in-law, Marilyn Falk and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents and cousin Wallace.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at the First Covenant Church, 3311 Hammond Avenue, Superior and continue until the 11:00 AM memorial service with Pastor  Luke Oliver, officiating. Burial will be in Lake Nebagamon Cemetery in Lake Nebagamon, WI.
