George W. Simmons

George W. Simmons, 60, passed away Saturday, September 6, 2014 at his home in Maple, Wisconsin with his loving wife at his side.

He was born in Covington, Kentucky on December 14, 1953 the son of George and Mary Ellen (Sydney) Simmons, Jr.

He married the love of his life, Candace Nygard on June 28, 1975 at Zion Lutheran Church in Superior and celebrated 39 years of marriage.

George worked for General Electric as a plant manager for nearly two decades. Most recently he was employed at H & L Industries in Solon Springs as plant manager and part owner.

George will be remembered for his great sense of humor, practical jokes and for making his family laugh. We will forever have a large void in our lives. He is now our loving angel watching and protecting us from above.

George will be lovingly remembered by his wife Candace; his children, Travis (Alexis) Simmons, New Richmond, WI, Heidi (Kent Kletscher) Simmons, Superior and Scott (Teresa) Simmons, Lake Nebagamon, WI; seven precious grandchildren, Olivia, Layla, Ailie, Myles, Irelyn, Charlette and Adilynn; his father, George (Debbie) Simmons, Jr.,Elsmere, KY; his brother, Robert (Tina) Simmons, Amelia, OH; his sister, Mary Beth (Don) Wiehoff, Covington, KY; his nieces, Danielle and Michelle; his great-nephews, Logan and Ethan and his brother-in-law, Ray Nygard.

George was preceded in death his mother, Mary Ellen and a nephew, Kyle Simmons.

Visitation will begin at 4:00 PM Thursday, September 11, 2014 in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home and will continue until the 6:00 PM Funeral Service with Lay Minister Gary Banker, officiating.

Inurnment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
