Gerald A. Garramone

Gerald Anthony “Jerry” Garramone, 71, lifelong Superior resident, passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2023, at Essentia Health St. Mary’s in Duluth, with his loving family by his side.

Gerald was born on April 6, 1952, in Duluth, MN, the son of Joseph and Cecelia Garramone.

He worked as a Great Lakes Seaman for over twenty-five years. He spent most of that time sailing for the Interlake Steamship Company on the motor vessel, Paul R. Tregurtha.

Jerry loved the outdoors. Whether it was ice fishing, sitting around a campfire, camping at his favorite spot in Iron River, WI, or finding the best garage sales around the area. Most of all, Gerald loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He was cared for by his daughter Missy, son in law Nick Maccoux, grandchildren; Anthony, Marcus, Blaize, and Myla; and favorite grand dog, Toby.  He will always hold a special place in their hearts.

He is survived by his wife, Jolene; daughters Heather, Bobbi, Amy, and son Joseph; grandchildren Ryan, Gavin, Taylor (Cody), Jesse, Jolene, and Maizie; great-granddaughter Miralynn; brothers David (Faith) Garramone and Michael Garramone; special cousin Carol Bjorklund, and many friends and neighbors.

Gerald is preceded in death by his parents; sister Sandy Coffey; brothers Peter Garramone and Robert McDonald; infant brother Dewayne; Uncle Archie; and his special aunt “Honey”.

A Celebration of Jerry’s Life will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 PM on Thursday, October 26, 2023, at the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 E. 5th Street in Superior.
