Gerald Ortt

Gerald Ortt, 81, Superior resident, died Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at the Golden Living Center in Superior, WI. He was born on June 22, 1936 in St. Paul, MN to Robert and Virginia (Baillargeon) Ortt. He attended elementary and high school in St. Paul, MN.

Gerald married Barbara Boyer on March 9, 1957 in Phoenix, AZ and celebrated fifty-six years of marriage before her passing in August of 2013.

Gerald served his country in the United States Navy from 1954 to 1958. He was employed as a carman for the Great Northern/Burlington Northern Railroad retiring after forty-four years of service. He also worked in St. Paul, Minneapolis, Brainerd, and Superior.

He was a member of Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church and was a union steward for United Railway Carman Union. Gerald enjoyed traveling, reading, and fishing with his grandchildren.

Gerald is survived by four daughters, Debbie (Dave) Boileau, Fort Collins, CO, Linda (Greg) Weber, Richmond, MN, Carolyn (Randy) Koglin, Avon, MN and Gayle McMinn, Superior, WI; two sons, Robert (Kay) Ortt, Coon Rapids, MN and Jerry Ortt, Duluth, MN; fourteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild, three brothers, Bernard (Barbara) Ortt, Wilfred (Carol) Ortt and Michael Ortt and one sister Rochell Lunde.

He is preceded in death by his wife Barbara, son Douglas Ortt, his parents and brothers Willard and Robert Ortt.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 28, 2017 at Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church, 1111 Belknap Street, Superior and continue until the 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. Andrew Ricci as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Superior. Pallbearers for the service will be Andrew Burrows, Ryan Ortt, Greg Weber, Austin Weber, Randy Koglin, Dave Boileau, Eric Boileau, Thomas Boileau and Gary Ortt.
