Gerald W. Johnson, 85, Superior, died July 28, 2014 at Essentia/ St. Mary’s Medical Center Hospice.

He was born on May 9, 1929 in Superior to Lawrence and Florence Johnson.

Gerald served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.

He was life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
In his lifetime, he enjoyed boat racing, bowling, traveling and his favorite football team the Colts, especially when their quarterback was Johnny U. He coached Babe Ruth baseball for 13 years and was always happy when his former players would recognize him in later years.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Marlene, his son Jeb (Karin) Johnson, Tahoe City, CA; step-daughters, Linda Nelson, Barnes, WI, Sharyl Pioro and Becky Sturtevant of Superior, Debra Donahoe, Minneapolis, MN; a brother, Rick (Phyllis) Johnson, Superior; a sister, Betty Lou Gilbertsoen, Brule, WI; a sister-in-law, Mary Johnson; several nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Jodi Johnson Hicks and a brother, Lawrence “Bud” Johnson.

Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM with a Time of Remembrance at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 1, 2014 in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
