Geraldine (“Gerry”) L. Stream, 86, a longtime Superior resident, died at her residence in Hermantown, MN, Wednesday, February 23, after a long illness.
She was born January 13, 1925, to George and Grace (Reingruber) Anderson.
Gerry graduated from the former Superior East High School in 1943. She married the love of her life, Willus (“Willie”) Stream, on April 15, 1943, while he was on furlough from the U.S. Army.
She was employed by several banks during her working years, including National Bank of Commerce and Workers Mutual Savings Bank. She retired from Superior Community Credit Union in 1985.
Throughout the years, she enjoyed her weekly card game with her friends, reading, bowling and golfing. For many years, she and Willie had a cabin on Webb Lake where they would go every weekend, inviting family and friends out to enjoy swimming and boating. After retirement, she and Willie became “snowbirds”, traveling to Yuma, AZ each winter to enjoy the sunny weather and visit with family. After being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease, she particularly enjoyed spending time with her family, reminiscing about times long ago, while she still had a memory of them.
She is survived by two daughters, Jonnie Lou (Kenneth) Crawford and Terri Lynn (Charles) Finckler; two sons, William Stream and Ronald (Rena) Stream; nine grandchildren, Kenneth Crawford, Keri Crawford, Kyle Crawford, Phillip Finckler; Jasen Finckler, Jodi Hamilton, Willie Stream, Clinton Riedasch and Cheryl Dahl, fifteen great-grandchildren; and two brothers, John Anderson and George Anderson, Jr. She was preceded in death by her husband and her sister, Maxine Siems.
Our lives are richer for having had her with us, and we will miss her kindness, patience and never-ending love.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Sunday, February 27, 2011 in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home. Visitation will continue at 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM Funeral Service on Monday, February 28, 2011 in Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Ronald Becklund, officiating.
Should friends desire, memorials may be made in Gerry’s name to the Alzheimers Foundation of America, 322 Eighth Ave, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001.
