Gerda Keilpart-Stearns

Gerda Keilpart-Stearns, 86, resident of Superior, died Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Viewcrest Health Center in Duluth, MN. She was born March 10, 1932 in Offenbach, Germany, the daughter of Alois and Matilde (Bugelmeyer) Jaeger.

She moved from Germany in 1954 to Canada, then several years later moved to the United States in the 1960’s.

Gerda was the manager of a Gymnastics Academy in Texas for many years. She was a member of Bay Area Unitarian Church in Houston, TX and will be missed by many friends there. In Superior she belonged to the Red Hat Society, and will also be missed by her many friends from Swimming at the YMCA.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Frank Stearns, Superior, WI; daughter, Linda (Steve) Engleson, Superior, WI; son, Norman (Beth) Keilpart, Broken Arrow, OK; grandchildren (Aaron, Alyssa and Erika); four great-grandchildren; and sister, Else Kiehl, of Germany.

She is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Ted Keilpart; and brother, Walter Jaeger.

A Celebration of Gerda’s Life will be held in the Spring with the date to be determined.
