Gilbert Davidson, 69, longtime Superior resident died Friday, October 28, 2011 in his home
surrounded by his family.
Gilbert was born June 19, 1942 in Hallock, MN the son of Ernest and Lilly (Anderson) Davidson.
He graduated from high school in Lake Bronson, MN and received numerous certifications
throughout his career.
He served his country in the United States Air force during the Vietnam War.
Following a seventy-three day courtship he married the love of his life, Elizabeth "Beth”
Oberg February 16, 1963 and celebrated forty-eight years of marriage.
He was a longtime employee of the city of Superior before retirement.
He was a longtime
member of the First Covenant Church in Superior.
Gil was a longtime union member, representative, and officer of various labor organizations
and was very much involved with organized labor.
He was a two time mayoral candidate of Superior. He was a member of the American Legion,
NRA, and was an avid outdoors-man and enjoyed deer hunting and fishing. Spending time
with family and friends was also very important to Gil.
In addition to his wife Beth, he is survived by one daughter Roberta (Arthur) Carre of
Superior, two sons Brian (Tammy) Davidson, Iron River WI, and Darryn (Corrine) Davidson of
Appleton, WI, nine grandchildren, Mike, Scott, Samantha, Arica, Misty, Tad, Kolton, Camdyn,
and Braylen and one great granddaughter Breanna.
He is also survived by one sister Estella (Herb) Foster of Stockholm, WI and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded by his parents, a sister Angie Clausen, a nephew Rick Clausen and an infant
brother.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00pm on Thursday November 3, 2011 in the Lenroot-Maetzold
Funeral Home, 1209 East 5th Street, in Superior, WI and will continue from 12:30pm until the
1:30pm funeral services Friday, November 4, 2011 in the First Evangelical Covenant Church Superior.
Pastor Karl Freeberg and Pastor Stephen Staurseth will co-officiate the services.
Burial will be in the Veterans Memorial Park of Greenwood Cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post #435 Honor Guard.
Pallbearers for the service will be Gilbert’s sons Brian and Darryn Davidson his grandsons Kolten, Scott and Mike Davidson and his son in law, Arthur Carre.
Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons, Tad, Camdyn, Braylen.
