Gilbert Paul Klomhaus

May 2, 1937 — December 29, 2017

For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so through
Jesus God will bring with him those who have fallen asleep.
1 Thessalonians 4:14

Gilbert Paul Klomhaus, 80, passed away Friday December 29 th , 2017 at home following a long illness surrounded by his family he was received into the arms of his Heavenly Father.

He was born May 2 nd , 1937, in Aurora, Illinois to Doctor Alfred and Adeline Klomhaus.  During 6 th grade his family moved to Rogue River, Oregon and spent his growing up years there.  He graduated from Rogue River High School and went on to get his Bachelor of Science from Southern Oregon University.  After graduation he went on to receive a Master of Divinity from Concordia Theological Seminary in Springfield, Illinois.  After his ordination he was called to be a Pastor of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Aurora, Illinois.  He then went on to serve various vacancies including Joliet, Yorkville and the surrounding area.  One of his passions was ministering to shut-ins.  He wrote many Bible studies over the years and used them in his home Bible study groups.

After formal pastoral ministry he went on to be a carpenter.  He always said “if Jesus could be a carpenter, then so could I.”  He loved to fix things.  If it was broken, he could fix it!  Gill continued this work and ministry till his passing.

He was always there for his family and friends and he will be greatly missed.  Our love and prayers and memories will always be with us, until we meet in heaven.

He is survived by his dear wife of 56 years of marriage, Donna (Trackman), sons, Paul (Kim), Adam (Laurie), grandchildren, Aaron, Nathan, Holly, Zak, Lexi and Darci, along with many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Adeline, an infant brother, Alfred and sister Gretchen (Schalager) of Sweet Home, Oregon.

Gill urges his family and friends not to set their hope on uncertain riches, but to take hold of the live the your lives through faith in Jesus Christ.

Genesis 31:49
Let us ask the precious Saviour
To go with us while we part,
For His presence in the Life’s journey
Peace and comfort doth impart.
Know we not what changes wait us,
But w know our mighty Guide,
Safe are we in His dear keeping,
Happy, when he walks beside.
In His tender bands entrusting
Every link in love’s bright chain;
‘Tis a blessed hope that whispers,
Surely we shall meet again.
Meet again, no more to saver,
In that glorious beyond,
Where the love of our Redeemer
Is our strongest surest bond.
Long our hallowed prayer will linger
Mingling with sweet melody;
Be our prayer at parting, “Mizpah”
May the Lord keep watch over you and me.
Amen.
