Gilbert M. “Gil” Severson, 80, lifelong area resident, died Saturday, September 28, 2019 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Superior, WI. He was born in Duluth, MN, November 10, 1938, the son of Garfield and Hannah (Langli) Severson.
He attended the former Superior Central High School.
Gil was united in marriage to Sally Pleski on July 16, 1960, and they recently celebrated fifty-nine years of marriage before his passing. He worked as a logger, and as a Railroad Switchman for the Chicago and North Western Transportation Company for many years before his retirement.
Gil was a longtime member of the Parkland Community. He loved animals and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time at his hobby farm. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and watching his grandchildren compete in sports, and driving around the area with his wife. Gil was a kind and loving man and was always thinking of ways to help people.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sally; daughters, Michelle (Mark) Amys, Hayward, WI, Brenda (Chuck) Weeks, Woodbridge, VA, Lisa Severson, Superior, WI, and Erin (Len Moen) Sanders, Superior, WI; sons, Michael (Lisa J.) Severson, Superior, WI, and Eric (Brandy) Severson, South Range, WI; sister-in-law, Loretta Severson; nineteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; and many additional family members and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Larry.
A Celebration of Gilbert’s Life and Time of Remembrance will be held from 1:30-3:00 PM, Thursday, October 3, 2019, at the Parkland Town Hall, 6221 E. Veterans Drive, South Range, WI, with a Service of Remembrance to begin at 3:00 PM.
