Glenn James Dickenson, age 85, of Duluth, Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday August 1, 2018 at Chris Jensen Health & Rehabilitation Center in Duluth, MN, with his son by his side.
He was born on February 26, 1933, in Superior, Wisconsin to Roy F. and Irene Katherine (Sewall) Dickenson.
Glenn was a Korean War veteran and served his country honorably in the United States Airforce. He worked as a switchman for the Northern Pacific and Burlington Northern Railway for 46 years before his retirement in 1993. Glenn was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church, in Duluth, and the American Legion post #71, in West Duluth.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Glenn “Andy” Dickenson; brother, Roy Dickenson; and sister, Joyce Hendricks. He is survived by his son, Greg (Nancy) Dickenson, Duluth, MN; daughter, LeAnne (Neal) Howard, Barnum, MN; brother, Tom (Barb) Dickenson, Superior, W I and grandchildren, Shane & Cody Dickenson, Luke Howard, and Jessica.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, Thursday, August 16, 2018, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 4315 E. 3 rd Street, Superior, and will continue until the 11:00 AM Memorial Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. David Newschwander as celebrant.
Burial will be at St. Francis Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to all the staff at Chris Jensen Health & Rehabilitation Center and Essentia Health Hospice for the excellent care Glenn received over the past two years. Glenn, his profound sense of humor, and his kind spirit will be deeply missed by all.
