Gloria Frances (Berthiaume) Chialastri, 97, longtime Superior resident, died Monday, August 19, 2019 surrounded by her family at Superior Health and Rehabilitation Center in Superior. She was born in Superior, November 26, 1921, the daughter of Eugene and Regina (Gingras) Berthiaume.
She moved to Washington D.C. where she was employed as a beautician, and met C. Paul Chialastri. They returned to Superior and were married on July 10, 1945 at the former St. Louis Catholic Church. They celebrated fifty-eight years of marriage before his passing in 2004.
She was a member of the former St. Louis Parish, and currently a longtime active member of Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church in Superior. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America Court 1190 for over fifty years, and of the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine.
Gloria was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and homemaker, and worked as the housekeeper and cook at the Cathedral Rectory until her retirement. She had also previously worked at the Sweden House, and as a prep cook at the Royalton Manor.
She is survived by her two daughters, Mary (Sonny Heikkila) Davis, Superior, WI and Therese “Terry” Chialastri, Superior, WI; two sons, Paul E. (Mary) Chialastri, Oliver, WI and Michael (Karla Wright) Chialastri, Lincoln, NE: two grandchildren, Sherri Davis, Superior, WI and James “Jim” (Angela) Davis, Circle Pines, MN; four great-grandchildren, Tamara Davis, Xavier Dominguez and Edward and Elliot Davis; a niece, Karen (John) Boubel; and two nephews, Brother Robert Berthiaume and Tom (Rose Marie) Berthiaume.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband; parents; sister, Jeanette Brandser; brother, Norbert Berthiaume; son-in-law, Edward Davis; and an infant sister.
Visitation will begin with a 10:00 AM Rosary conducted by the CDA Court 1190, on Saturday, August 31, 2019, at Cathedral of Christ the King Catholic Church, 1111 Belknap Street, Superior, and will continue until the 11:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. Andrew Ricci as celebrant.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Superior.
