Gloria Rose Dumonson

Gloria Rose Dumonson, 79, Hayward WI, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, in the early morning hours of Monday, October 21st, 2024, at Essentia St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth, MN.

She was born on October 22nd, 1944, Gloria Rose Swenson, and was adopted by Edward and Lorraine Golenbeck when her mother became very ill. As a girl, Gloria loved riding and caring for her horse and taking him to Pattison Park. She always enjoyed being near the water, swimming, and spending time with her older siblings on the farm in Lake Minnesuing. She loved taking family trips by train to visit family in Michigan and California.

She graduated from Superior Central High School and became a Certified Nursing Assistant. Gloria married the love of her life, Ronald Dumonson, on December 21st, 1971, and together they raised a daughter and a son, both of whom she was incredibly proud. Gloria was a stay-at-home mother for several years, filling home with vegetables from her huge garden, cooking amazing meals, teaching her children important life skills, and sprinkling in love and laughter. Gloria enjoyed camping, cabin time, canning vegetables, and jams, motorcycling with her husband, and wintering in Lake Havasu, AZ with friends.

Gloria worked for Poplar Hardware for many years and later went back to work as a CNA for Middle River Health Facility, retiring in the 1990’s. Gloria took great care of everyone in all facets of her life, whether you were family, friend, or stranger, she would take you into her heart and put your needs ahead of her own.

Gloria is lovingly survived by her husband, Ronald Dumonson, Hayward, WI; her daughter Lisa (Douglas) Schultz, Marshfield, WI; her son Jamie (Angela) Dumonson, Poplar, WI; and three grandchildren Elizabeth Schultz, Orlando, FL, Wyatt Dumonson, Poplar, WI, and Avery Dumonson, Poplar, WI.

The family wishes to extend our deepest gratitude to the staff of Hayward Health Services for the great care they provided Gloria for the last 8 years. The family also wishes to thank the Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center 9th floor intensive care department for the support and compassion extended to Gloria and her family during her final days.
