Gloria Lorraine (Basterash) Johnson passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at the Golden Living Center in Superior, WI.
She was born on March 18, 1924 in Chicago, IL to Thomas and Ethel (Olds) Basterash.
Gloria served her country in the United States Navy during World War II.
She married Clarence L. Johnson on July 29, 1949 in Superior and celebrated sixty-one years of marriage.
Gloria loved celebrating the holidays and being with family, and getting away with Clarence to warmer climates during the winter whenever they could.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Gloria is preceded in passing by her husband Clarence, her parents, a son James, sisters Evelyn Waining, Maye Fossum, and Veronica Levine, brothers Tom Clifford Basterash, Armond Basterash and Stanley Basterash.
She is survived by a daughter, Deborah (Dan) Eastman; sons, Michael Johnson and Tim (Shellie) Johnson; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Maynard Basterash, Vernon Basterash, and Edmund Basterash; sisters, Delores Bradshaw and Karen Neuberger.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the people at the Stardusk House and Golden Living Center during her stay there.
A celebration of life for Gloria will be held Thursday, April 28, 2011 from 5:00 to 7:30 PM at The Shack Supper Club, 3301 Belknap Street, Superior.
The Downs-LeSage Funeral Home, 1304 Hammond Avenue, Superior is assisting the family with arrangements.
