Gordon Hill

March 11, 1930 — July 1, 2015

Gordon E. “Gordy” Hill, 85, lifelong Superior resident, passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2015.   He was born on March 11, 1930 to Carl Benjamin “Bennie” and Isabelle (Hanson) Hill.

Gordon was a veteran and served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

Gordy married Lois Palumbo on January 9, 1953 in Superior and celebrated 62 years of marriage this year.

He was employed as a pipefitter with Murphy Oil for over 35 years and retired in 1990.

Gordy was a member of the Nemadji Men’s Club and was a lifelong golfer. Next to golf, Gordy’s interests were fishing, hunting and spending time outdoors. He also enjoyed sharing stories of his life experiences with friends and family.

In addition to his wife Lois, Gordy is survived by two sons, David (Julie) Hill, Superior, Timothy (Bridget) Hill, LaCrosse, WI; three daughters, Martha (Thomas) Rounds, Centennial, CO, Elaine (Mark) Aldorfer, Eagle River, AK,. Kelly (Joseph) Kantarik, Superior; four grandchildren, Tiffany, Adison, Karen and Elizabeth.

He was preceded in death by his son James on March 12, 1987; his parents; two brothers, Roger and Jay and one sister, Marilyn Schaapveld.

Visitation will begin at 5:00 PM on Monday, July 6, 2015 in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 E. 5 th St., and will continue on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. James Tobolski, as celebrant.

Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
