Hans Knoll, Jr.

Hans J. Knoll, Jr., 76, lifelong Lake Nebagamon resident, died Thursday, January 14, 2010 in the Solvay Hospice House in Duluth, surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 20, 1933 in the family home in Lake Nebagamon to Hans and Esther (Brevig) Knoll, Sr.
He was one of the second graduating class of Northwestern High School in 1951 and went on to attend the former State Teacher's College in Superior.
He married Betty Nevin on March 7, 1953 in Carlton, MN and celebrated fifty-six years of marriage.
Hans was employed as an instrument worker for Murphy Oil from 1957 to 1993 retiring after thirty-six years of service. He also owned and operated the Lake Nebagamon Laundry and was co-owner of the Lake Nebagamon Car Wash.
Hans enjoyed his vegetable garden, hunting, fishing and was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. He will be remembered as a great sportsman and enjoyed hockey with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife Betty, Hans is survived by one daughter, Lori (Tom) Keeler, Lake Nebagamon; two sons, Greg (Barbara) Knoll, Lake Nebagamon, Kevin (Teresa) Knoll, Littleton, CO; nine grandchildren, Holly Knoll, Minneapolis, MN, Lindsay Knoll, Minneapolis, MN, Julie Knoll, Atlanta, GA, Tiffanie Lillo, Minot, ND, Krista (Matt Falk) Lillo, Two Harbors, MN, Caitlin Knoll, Duluth, MN, Hannah Knoll, Lake Nebagamon, WI, Trevor Knoll, Littleton, CO and Jake Knoll, Littleton, CO; one sister, Elaine Miller, Hawthorne, WI and several nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Irene Wedan.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Sunday, January 17, 2010 in the Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home. Visitation will continue at 11:00 AM Monday, January 18, 2010 until the 1:00 PM Funeral Service in the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lake Nebagamon. Rev. Lee Bolman will officiate.
Burial will be in the Lake Nebagamon Cemetery.
Pallbearers for the service will be Tom Keeler, Jeff, Tim, Joe, Mike and Jeff Nevin, Jr.
