Harriet M. Allen, 96, lifelong Superior area resident, died Friday, November 30, 2018, at Essentia Health, St. Mary’s Hospital, Duluth, Minnesota. She was born on May 10, 1922 in Superior, Wisconsin, the daughter of Carl and Ada (Lundstedt) Eliason, both of whom had emigrated from Sweden. Harriet was very proud of her Swedish heritage and kept the traditions going for the family.
Harriet was married to George Allen on May 22, 1954 and had celebrated 23 years of marriage before George’s passing. She was employed by Metropolitan Life Insurance Company as a secretary for many years.
Harriet was a lifelong member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Superior; a lifelong Billings parker; and worked with her nephew, Jeff at Peoples Drug Store in Superior into her 90’s. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Sweden on two separate occasions, and multiple bus tours of the country. She wintered in Arizona; loved Flower gardens, sewing, baking and spending time with family.
Harriet is survived by sister-in-laws Betty Eliason and Mary Jo Allen; brother-in-law, Gerald Allen; two nephew’s, Jeff (Patricia) Eliason and their children, Jessica (Refi Olson) Eliason, Kristin Eliason, Jeffrey David “JD” Eliason, Melissa Eliason (son Caden Eliason) and nephew Joe (Catharine) Eliason and their children, Lane Eliason and Joey Eliason; two nieces, Irene Eliason and Becky (Terry) Jablonski; and many nieces and nephews on the Allen side.
Harriet is preceded in death by her husband, George; her parents, Carl and Ada and one brother, Roy “LeRoy” Eliason.
The family wishes to extend a very special thank you to Dean Gokey, Dr. Hoyer, Dove Home Health Care, and the Trauma ICU team at St. Mary’s Hospital for the wonderful care they provided.
Harriet was a loving auntie and will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church on Thursday December 27, 2018 with visitation at 11:00 a.m. and service to begin at 12:00 p.m. with a luncheon to follow.
