Harvey C. Anderson

Harvey C. Anderson, age 80, longtime Superior resident, passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at Golden Living Center of Superior with his family by his side.

He was born on September 24, 1934 in Minneapolis, MN to Clyde and Florence (Fitzwater) Anderson.

Harvey graduated from Iron River High School in 1952 and enlisted in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.

He married Gail Jacobson and together they attended and graduated from the University of Wisconsin Superior. Following graduation he taught at Washburn and Wausau. He later retired as a counselor at the Superior Vocations Center after many years of service.

Harvey was a member of the Superior Moose Lodge #606 and the Richard I. Bong American Legion Post #435 where he was past commander and a member of the Honor Guard.

In addition to his loving wife and best friend of 58 years, Harvey is survived by three sons Tim (Janet) Anderson, David (Cheryl) Anderson and Derek Anderson; two daughters, Dawn (Rick) Karlon and Paula Anderson; eight grandchildren, Neal (Cheryl) Anderson, Mandy (Luke) Thompson , Katy Anderson, Tate (Seth) Lithgow, Leah Karlon ,Bryce Karlon, Jeffrey Koenen and Aeris Anderson; three great-grandchildren, Dylan, Jensen and Molly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Connie (Ray) Vanark.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Greenwood Cemetery with Pastor Sarah Kerkes, Pastor of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, officiating.

Military honors will be accorded by the Richard I Bong American Legion Post #435.

Harvey’s family would like to thank the staff at St. Luke’s Hospital, St. Luke’s Hospice program and the Golden Living Center of Superior for their kindness and care of Harvey during his illness.
