Helen "Holly" McLean, 71, lifelong resident of Superior, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at Essentia Health St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth, MN, surrounded by her family.
She was born on December 8, 1953, to John "Jack" and Doris (Stichman) Harrington. Growing up in Superior, Holly graduated from Superior Senior High School in the class of 1972.
Holly was united in marriage to Michael McLean on September 15, 1973, in Superior. Together they raised two beautiful girls and celebrated fifty-one wonderful years together.
Holly was an amazingly kind, generous, and caring woman. She was very involved in the community she loved so much by volunteering and supporting many organizations like CASDA and Toys for Tots. She was a huge advocate for animals and spent many years volunteering at both A.R.F and the Douglas County Human Society. She also volunteered at the Douglas County Historical Society.
In her free time, Holly loved to read, listen to all different genres of music, and watch old Hollywood movies, especially The Wizard of OZ. She was a talented cross stitcher and loved gifting her creations to her family and friends. Holly was also an amazing cook, who never needed to use recipes when making her delicious meals. She will be forever remembered for her great sense of humor, making people laugh, and her ability to brighten anyone's day.
She is survived by her beloved husband Mike McLean, Superior; daughters Kelly (Dave Byer) Ziebell, Duluth, MN, and Kristine (Brian) Van Hove, Superior; granddaughters Julia Jones, St. George, UT, and Katrina Jones, Superior; sister-in-law Barb (Greg) Syring, Superior; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff at Essentia Health St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth, for the wonderful care they provided Holly while in their care.
A Celebration of Holly's Life will be held from 1:00 - 3:00 PM on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Lenroot-Maetzold Funeral Home, 1209 E. 5th Street in Superior, with a Service of Remembrance at 3:00 PM with Gary Banker officiating.
Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Holly's honor to the Douglas County Humane Society, 138 Moccasin Mike Rd in Superior, or to CASDA, 318 21st Ave. East in Superior.
