Helen L. Jacobson, 98 of Superior, Wisconsin died September 11, 2015 at the LifeCare Center of Elkhorn in Omaha, NE.
She was born in Wentworth, WI on July 28, 1917 to John and Mary Soderlund. She attended schools in Wentworth and South Range, WI. She graduated from Superior Central in 1935 and State Teachers College in 1937. She taught school at Franklin School and McKinley, Town of Oakland, South Range, WI.
She was employed in Denver, CO at the Denver Research Institute and Colorado Builders. She was also employed at the Dreyer Medical Clinic in Aurora, IL. They moved back to Superior to enjoy their retirement in 1977. For the last 5 years Helen lived in Omaha, NE where her youngest daughter Mary and her family reside.
She was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church and was a past president of PLCU, Esther Circle. She was a former member of Elks Auxiliary #403 and past president of St. Mary’s Hospital Auxiliary of Superior. She was past President of AARP Chapter #2099. She was also a member of Douglas County Senior Citizen Center and RSVP in Superior. Helen loved to knit and crochet making many, many quilts and blankets and a variety of other homemade items.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Irving; her parents; brothers Edgar and Donald and sisters Ethel Schulz and Gladys VanHulle.
She is survived by her children David (Carol) Jacobson of Burnsville, MN, Susan (Paul) Chenault of Hotchkiss, CO, Thomas Jacobson of Denver, CO and Mary (Richard) Younglove of Omaha, NE; her grandchildren, Krysta Nevin, Aaron Jacobson, Brian and Scott Younglove and her great-grandchildren Maverick and Jordyn Nevin, Wyatt Jacobson, Lydia Younglove, and several nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be held at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Superior on Saturday, September 19, 2015 beginning at 9:30 AM and continuing until the 10:30 AM Memorial Service with Pastor Will Mowchan, officiating.
Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery, Superior.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pilgrim Lutheran Church or the Superior Senior Center.
