Helen A. Luoma, 95, died Saturday, August 11, 2012 at the Golden Living Center, Superior.
Helen was born to the late Mathew and Anna Hanson Pellman on June 29, 1917 and grew up in Maple, Wisconsin.
She married Conrad Gunderson in 1942; they resided in Superior until his death in 1954. In 1960 she married Gust Luoma, and lived with him in Gile, Wisconsin until his death in 1973.
She returned to Maple working as a school cook for the Maple School District; as a custom seamstress, particularly wedding dresses and as a caterer. She was an expert quilter and weaver of rag rugs.
After her retirement, she moved to the Golden Apartments in Superior.
Helen was a member of Christ Lutheran Church where she was active in the Ruth Society. She enjoyed travel, especially by bus.
In addition to her husbands, Helen was preceded in death by her sisters Ethel Sellhorn, Martha Bell, and June Wester, and by her brothers Jack Pellman and David Aho. She is survived by several nieces.
Visitation will begin at 12:30 PM until the 1:30 PM Memorial Service on Friday, August 17, 2012 at Christ Lutheran Church with Pastor David Schoessow, officiating.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
